Summer is Here!

Many of you have planned a vacation this year to beat the heat, I chose to have a stay vacation. Always nice to be at home and relax.

For today I have created this card, Frog with a heart. I just love these three new stamp sets: Playful Backgrounds, Love You Lots and Layering Love. I paired them with Dapper Denim, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and Rose Red. This little frog just catches my heart and the verse goes very well with him.

Frog in your heart

I remember many summer picnics with our family at various lake in WA and the kids were always trying to catch frogs.

Easter Chicks are on their way!

Spring is here in AZ and Easter is on it’s way!

It’s this time of year when I was a kid that my mom went to the local store to ask for a washer or dryer box to take home. This would be the new home for our new chicks until they were old enough to be in the chicken yard.

Mom would set it up with a heat lamp, place sawdust (now wood shavings) in the bottom with special feeder and watering can for these new little chicks.

I remember being so excited each year to see all the pretty colored chicks come home and the excited we got out of watching them and hearing all those peeps. I didn’t know until recently they peep so their mother remembers their tones. They were all just such a pretty sight of blue, pink and yellow chicks peeping away. We watched that box like a hawk, looking for any sign of a rooster to emerge or for them to start picking on a weakling that would have to be separated until they were older. Growing up on a small farm really was a blessing and I do wish everyone could have experienced this. I now go to my local Pet Store and first thing I do is look in the box of chicks by the door and reminisce over the sight of them. My small town the Pet Store is really a feed and tack store.

So below today is my Easter Card remembering all those little peeps and how we welcomed spring every year to see these little critter.

Home for the Holidays

It’s that time of year people are heading home for Christmas. I will be staying in AZ as I am working through the holidays.  This will be short and sweet today. The card I made is for those flying home for Christmas. This is a sneak peak of the new stamp sets coming January 5, 2016.

Soaring Home for Christmas

Soaring Home for Christmas

This card was created using the new Sky’s the Limit Stamp set from 2016 Sale-A-Bration book, cropping out the plane. Also used is the new Going Places Designer Series paper from the new 2016 Occasions book. The trees are the stamp set in the 2015 Holiday book Wonderland.

Using my brayer I rolled on Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy, blending them together to create the sky. Using Garden Green for the trees tops. I die cut the star using Stars framelits and stamped the saying from Sky’s the Limit and Jingle All the Way on the inside of the card, being very careful to line them up with the star.

January 5, 2016 will be the first day you can order from the new Occasions catalog.  For every $50 order you place you get to choose 1 free product from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells!

“Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh!”

Taking a trip down memory lane and the times I spent on my Uncle Gus’s ranch in Pine Creek, WA. These were some very cherished times with family.

The ranch house was a typical early 1900’s ranch house, two stories and the kitchen hosted an actual wood stove. In the later years of the life of this house, electric was placed but the wood stove remain. It was large with a tall back and sat out from the wall.

In the winter time family would gather and Uncle Gus would harness up Sugar, the work horse, to a flat bed sleigh. He placed bales of hay around the edges and all us kids would climb in and enjoy a ride through his ranch. What a fond memory of such a beautiful ranch in the winter time.

After the sleigh ride we would all gather in the kitchen where Aunt Carol would make real home made hot chocolate. To get warm, us kids would stand behind the wood stove, it felt sooo good!

For my fond memory today I have made this card which will be sent to my Aunt Carol for Christmas. She is such a wonderful and joyous person, we all love her sense of humor and her kindness. For you, Carol:

This card was created with the new Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies (139670). Papers used are Whisper White, Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Elegant Eggplant. I used Whisper White Craft ink for the stars and also heat embossed the stars, snow and moon with sparkling embossing powder. Bottom scalloped edges were created with a retired Stampin’ Up! punch.

Spring Flowers

Since my first blog I have decided to try and share some memories of my upbringing in a large family on a little farm in Tonasket, WA. I could only wish that the children of today could experience a great family life with their aunts, uncles and cousins sharing in family gatherings. As the saying goes “Those were the days”!

I just love spring because of the array of colors it brings after a long winter of white and brown. As a child growing up in central Washington and having all four seasons. In the spring the vibrant colors bring the high desert of WA alive with such beautiful wildflowers and fruit orchards. This time of year the hillsides are abloom with yellow sunflowers (balsom root) and buttercups, blue bells and purple shooting stars, while the valley comes to life with a vast variety of fruit orchards. It truly is a sight to see and one I reminisce of younger years.

One of my all times favorites is the pink of the fruit trees coming into full bloom, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, apricots, plums and the different hues of pink they all have. The valley comes to life again.

So… this all being said, my card today reminds me of apple blossom time, the sun is warm and bright, the leaves are fresh and green and the butterflys and bees are pollinating them so they will bare fruit in the fall. What a wonderful place to have grown up. I am so blessed.

“The Earth Laughs in Flowers” ~e.e. cummings.

This card is made using a retired color of paper and candy dots Strawberry Slush, retired ink from long ago/Yolo Yellow, Whisper White card stock, flower stamps from Indescribable Gift, and words from Fabulous Florets. The butterfly was cut using Daffodil Delight and Beautiful Wings Embosslits. You can purchase all the products except the Yolo Yellow ink pad from my website by clicking below on Shop Now.

Pet Sympathy Cards

My first Blog and hoping you keep an open mind and follow me as I grow in this Blogging world of ours.

We have all had pets in our lives and as we know some leave us at young ages and old with many warm and loving memories in our hearts. I have created beautiful Sympathy cards for our Fur families we have lost and grieve over, to pay my respects to a friend who has recently lost their beloved pet.

Cat sympathy Dog Sympathy

I know my friend will adore getting a nice little card to let her know that I am thinking of her.

Although these are not solely made by using Stampin’ Up! products the stamp sets used are: Hot Diggity Dog and You Little Furball. I used dies to cut out the oval shapes for the phases and the foot print punch was a gift to me.

There is much more to Stampin’ Up! than just stamping. Their high quality ink and paper crafting products will speak for themselves once you get your hands on them.

This month being Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration event why not come to my store front and check out the new Occasions Catalog! For every $50 you spend you will get to choose one of the several beautiful FREEBIES in the Sala-A-Bration Brochure. I would tell you my favorites but seriously I have just too many to name.
