“Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh!”
Taking a trip down memory lane and the times I spent on my Uncle Gus’s ranch in Pine Creek, WA. These were some very cherished times with family.
The ranch house was a typical early 1900’s ranch house, two stories and the kitchen hosted an actual wood stove. In the later years of the life of this house, electric was placed but the wood stove remain. It was large with a tall back and sat out from the wall.
In the winter time family would gather and Uncle Gus would harness up Sugar, the work horse, to a flat bed sleigh. He placed bales of hay around the edges and all us kids would climb in and enjoy a ride through his ranch. What a fond memory of such a beautiful ranch in the winter time.
After the sleigh ride we would all gather in the kitchen where Aunt Carol would make real home made hot chocolate. To get warm, us kids would stand behind the wood stove, it felt sooo good!
For my fond memory today I have made this card which will be sent to my Aunt Carol for Christmas. She is such a wonderful and joyous person, we all love her sense of humor and her kindness. For you, Carol:
This card was created with the new Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies (139670). Papers used are Whisper White, Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Elegant Eggplant. I used Whisper White Craft ink for the stars and also heat embossed the stars, snow and moon with sparkling embossing powder. Bottom scalloped edges were created with a retired Stampin’ Up! punch.
If you would like to purchase these or any other Stampin’ Up! products please visit my page by clicking the button below.
I hope you enjoyed my card today and a snippet of my past. I truly am blessed growing up in such a wonderful, small farming community.
